Tory Lanez Hospitalized Following Prison Stabbing Incident

Canadian rapper Tory Lanez was hospitalized Monday after being stabbed by another inmate at a California prison, according to multiple media reports.

Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, was attacked in the yard of the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi with an improvised weapon. He was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Bakersfield. TMZ reported that his injuries are not life-threatening.

The New York Post cited sources stating that Lanez sustained multiple facial wounds during the incident.

Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence following his 2022 conviction on three felony counts: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. The charges stem from a July 2020 incident involving rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

In 2023, a Los Angeles judge granted Megan Thee Stallion a restraining order against Lanez, effective until 2030. The order was issued following claims that Lanez was using intermediaries to harass her from prison. The petition supporting the order referenced call logs allegedly showing coordination of efforts to discredit her, including misinformation about the case’s evidence.
