Arlington police arrested a man Wednesday night in the death of his ex-girlfriend, who was pregnant when she was fatally shot last Friday.
Keith Cornell Haynes, 27, has been charged with capital murder in the death of 25-year-old Kenishia Walker. He is being held in the Arlington jail.
Haynes and Walker had been in a relationship in the past and had known each other since high school, police said.
Walker’s young son discovered his mother’s body about 10:30 a.m. in her townhome in the 2200 block of Ridge Run Road, near Interstate 20 and State Highway 360. There was no sign of forced entry, and the only item that had been taken was Walker’s cellphone, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
A neighbor called 911 after the boy, who was unharmed, went over and said his mother was not responsive, police said.
Police found Walker dead in her bed with the covers pulled up to her neck, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Walker’s son told police that he was home alone with his mother when he went to sleep about 9 p.m. When he woke up about 2 a.m., he went to his mother’s room and found she was with a man he knew as “Moosie.”
A friend of Walker’s told police Haynes was the father of Walker’s unborn child, and said he was in a relationship with another woman who was also pregnant with his child, the affidavit stated
Another friend of Walker’s told police that Haynes wanted to rekindle their relationship, but Walker only wanted to co-parent because Haynes had lied to her in the past.
The friend said Walker sent her screenshots of several months of texts from Haynes, including at least one that appeared to show an argument about their relationship, according to police documents.
On March 30, Walker told her friend she believed Haynes was trying to kill her and sent a text that said, “If I ever come up dead please show the police this and the other screenshots.” She would not say why she felt that way, according to the affidavit.
Haynes, who told police his nickname was “Moosie,” said he went to the police station to clear his name after hearing rumors that he was responsible for her death, the affidavit stated.
Haynes, who denied killing Walker, let police search his phone but said he had deleted his texts with her.

Police said Haynes had recently reconnected with Walker when she told him that he might be the baby’s father, though his girlfriend was unaware of the situation. He told police he had gone over to Walker’s on April 12 to discuss day-care issues, then went back to his home in Plano, the affidavit stated.
