Plano police on Tuesday identified the gunman and the victims of Sunday’s deadly shooting at a Cowboys watch party.
Police confirmed that the gunman was Spencer Hight, 32, and that one of the victims was his estranged wife, Meredith Hight, 27. Witnesses say Spencer showed up to the party at a house in the 1700 block of W. Spring Creek Parkway and got into an argument with Meredith out front. He then went inside with her and opened fire inside the home about 8 p.m.
The other victims are: Anthony Michael Cross, 33, Olivia Nicole Deffner, 24, James Richard Dunlop, 29, Darryl William Hawkins, 22, Rion Christopher Morgan, 31, Myah Sade Bass, 28, Caleb Seth Edwards, 25.
Gene and Debra Lane are mourning the loss of Meredith, their only daughter.
“”He was a murdering, evil monster who took the lives of many people,” Debra said about Spencer. “And he felt it was his right and that he was entitled to do it.”
Meredith’s parents say Meredith was thrilled to be out of the marriage and she had been happier than ever.
“If there’s one young woman sitting next to a man where she has her doubts or that she’s making excuses for… that she’ll leave and not look back and find a good person to be with,” Debra pleaded. “And if that can save those lives, it’s worth every conversation I have.”
