Blaise Taylor, Ex-NFL Scout, Arrested in Utah for Alleged Fatal Poisoning of Pregnant Girlfriend
A former talent scout for the NFL’s Tennessee Titans found himself in custody on March 14, suspected of a heinous crime. Blaise Taylor stands accused of murdering his pregnant girlfriend, Jade Benning, allegedly through poisoning back in 2023.
Reports from ESPN reveal that Taylor contacted authorities on Feb. 25, citing an allergic reaction afflicting Benning. Tragically, Benning passed away on March 25, coincidentally her 25th birthday. She was five months pregnant at the time, and her condition deteriorated rapidly, rendering her unable to communicate with law enforcement due to the effects of the poisoning. Regrettably, the fetus, presumably Taylor’s, succumbed to the poisoning two days after being admitted to the hospital.
Following a thorough investigation by the Nashville Police, Taylor was apprehended under suspicion of perpetrating the murders by poisoning. U.S. Marshalls arrested him during his employment as a Senior Defense Analyst for Utah State’s football program. Efforts are underway to transport him back to Nashville. Curiously, Taylor is also associated with Texas A&M, where his father, Trooper, serves on the coaching staff. In response to the distressing developments, the head coach, Mike Elko, issued a statement acknowledging the gravity of the situation and extending condolences to the victim’s loved ones. Elko stressed the importance of allowing the legal system to handle the matter with the utmost care and impartiality. Additionally, he offered support and prayers to Coach Trooper Taylor, Dr. Evelyn Taylor, and their family during this trying period.
As the investigation progressed, Elko reiterated his program’s commitment to diligence and fairness, directing their thoughts and prayers to the Taylor family.
Taylor, aged 27, formerly played football at Arkansas State before embarking on a professional career as an NFL scout, later transitioning into collegiate sports. Despite ongoing inquiries into Benning’s murder, authorities have yet to disclose any motive behind the tragic incident.
