WINNSBORO, La: 7yr-old Black Kid Electrocuted to Death by Neighbor Fence While Playing Outside

WINNSBORO, La. – The Franklin Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a child was found dead in Winnsboro.

Sheriff Kevin Cobb tells us they received a call just before 11:00 p.m. Monday night that 7 year old boy Brandon McFarland was missing.

The child’s parents, Brandon & Britney McFarland of Baskin, and several neighbors searched the area looking for the child before contacting the sheriff’s office.

After deputies arrived, they continued searching along with his parents and neighbors.

The family was visiting friends at 229 Lincoln Street in Winnsboro.

A neighbor found Brandon on their property right next to the residence they were visiting.

Brandon and his sister were playing ball outside and somehow the ball went over the property owner’s 6ft tall privacy fence.

He went over the fence to retrieve the ball and came into contact with a 120 volt hot wire on the other side of the fence and was electrocuted.

The child has been sent off for an autopsy and the investigation is ongoing.

“This is just a tragic situation. Our hearts go out to the McFarland family,” says Sheriff Cobb.
