Police fatally shot a man carrying a machete who had entered an athletics facility near the football field Wednesday morning. No one else was hurt in the incident.
Colorado’s Champions Center was placed on lockdown around 11 a.m. ET after police were notified of the armed suspect menacing people around the facility, the Daily Camera (Boulder, Colo.) reported. Shortly after, gun shots were fired inside the building after the suspect failed to comply in putting his weapon, a machete, down. The University of Boulder Police and Boulder Police worked together on the incident. Spokesmen from both departments said in a news conference the man was pronounced dead at the scene. He has yet to be identified and it’s unclear if he was a Colorado student. Another news conference with further detail is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET.
