A 12-year-old boy in Keene, Texas, was found guilty by a jury in Johnson County for the death of a Sonic restaurant employee. The incident occurred in May when the boy, whose name is not disclosed due to his age, shot 32-year-old Matt Davis multiple times with an assault rifle.

The shooting followed an altercation between Davis and 20-year-old Angel Gomez, who was at the restaurant with the boy. The confrontation arose when Davis confronted Gomez about urinating in the parking lot, leading to a physical fight.
The jury declared the 12-year-old “delinquent,” equivalent to being guilty in juvenile court. The sentencing phase of the trial is scheduled to begin on Thursday.

Gomez faces charges of murder and tampering with evidence for leaving the scene with the AR-15. Davis, who had recently moved to Keene and started working at Sonic, left behind a fiancée and a 10-year-old son, as per family members.
